I remember my first visit (to the UAE) in 2015 when it had been only some time since I came to the Centre. It was the first visit of an Indian PM to the UAE, after three decades. The world of diplomacy was new to me. At that time, I was welcomed at the airport by the then Crown Prince and today’s President along with his five brothers. That warmth, the shine in their eyes – I can never forget that…That welcome was not for me alone but for the 140 crore Indians…”

he said.

This is my 7th visit to the UAE in the last 10 years. Brother Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed also came to receive me at the airport today…this makes him special. I am happy that we got the opportunity to welcome him four times in India. A few days ago he came to Gujarat and lakhs of people gathered on the streets to thank him…”

#7. He expressed gratitude to the UAE for bestowing upon him the nation’s highest civilian award and emphasized that it was a recognition for millions of Indian citizens.

I am fortunate that the UAE has awarded me with its highest civilian award – The Order of Zayed. This honor is not just mine but that of the crores of Indians, of all of you.”

The two countries have walked together and have gone ahead together. Today, UAE is India’s third largest trade partner. Today, UAE is the seventh largest investor. Both the countries are cooperating a lot in Ease of Living and Ease of Doing Business,”

Speaking on the last day of the final session of the 17th Lok Sabha, he emphasized that the past five years were dedicated to reform, performance, and transformation in the country. PM Modi highlighted numerous game-changing reforms that took place during this period.

According to PM Modi, the country is on the path of change, citing significant events such as the revocation of Article 370, addressing the issue of Triple Talaq, and hosting the prestigious G20 meeting.

He listed various accomplishments of the government, including the Data Protection Bill, stringent anti-terrorism laws, removal of outdated laws, and the Women’s Reservation Bill. The achievements also encompassed the inauguration of the new parliament building and the opening of the parliament library to the public.

Everyone said we needed a new building. Everyone wanted it, but there was never a decision on it. We decided on it and owing to that we are sitting in the new Parliament today,”

PM Modi said.

He also spoke of the focus on marginalised people including transgenders, 17,000 of whom “received identity cards”. “We gave Padma awards to transgenders,”

he added.

In reference to the challenges posed by the Covid pandemic, PM Modi acknowledged that the last five years witnessed the “biggest crisis of the century.” He commended Speaker Om Birla for ensuring that parliamentary work continued without hindrance while upholding the dignity of the House.

The highlight of the period, however, was the abolition of Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.

Many generations dreamed of one constitution but this house scrapped Article 370. People who had a role in creating the constitution must be blessing us today.  The people of Kashmir were distant from social justice. Today, we took it to them,”
