Iran Sets 4 Conditions for Indians Visa-Free Travel: The Iranian government unveiled conditions for Indians to enjoy visa-free travel to the country, limiting entry to air travel with a maximum stay of 15 days. Iran introduced a visa-waiver program in December for 33 countries, including India, aiming to boost tourism and counter ‘Iranophobia campaigns.’

According to the Iranian embassy, Indian citizens with ordinary passports can enter Iran without a visa once every six months, staying a maximum of 15 days, solely by air and for tourism purposes. This exemption does not allow extensions.

In 2022, Iran witnessed a 315% increase in foreign tourist arrivals, totalling 4.1 million visitors, as per the World Tourism Organization. The Iranian tourism ministry reported a significant growth in Indian travellers, with 31,000 Indians visiting Iran in the first half of 2023, marking a 25% increase from the same period in 2022.
Most foreign visitors come to Iran for tourism, trade, medical treatment, and pilgrimage, according to Moslem Shojai, head of the Iranian tourism ministry’s foreign tourism marketing and development office.
